AFTN Family Cross Country
at Belle-Terre 2025

Context and objectives:

The Association des Familles de Thônex Nord (AFTN), in collaboration with AQBT, JADE, Grav’Side, le comptoir immobilier, Association des Commerçants de BT, la Manivelle and the Service de la Cohésion Sociale are organizing the 2nd edition of the Cross des familles de Belle-Terre. The main objective is to promote a sporting and family-friendly event, encouraging the active participation of local residents, while highlighting a healthy and active lifestyle. This year, Walking is added to the list of races!

Event details:

Date: Sunday May 18
Location: Belle-Terre grounds, focusing on trails while minimizing road use.
Scheduled races:
  • 10:00 – Parent(s) with children born in 2019-2020: 750m
  • 10:15 – Children born in 2017-2018: 750m (individual race)
  • 10:30 – Children born in 2015-2016: 1.5km
  • 10:30 – Walking, accessible to all: 4km (including with strollers)
  • 10:50 – Children born in 2009-2014: 2.25km
  • 11:15 – Children born before 2009: 3km
  • 11:45 – Adults: 4.5km

How it works:

The Family Cross Country is designed as a friendly and family-oriented event, prioritizing a pleasant and inclusive atmosphere.
  • The registration fee per race will be CHF5 per person and CHF10 per family (2 people or more) to cover organizational costs.
  • The prize ceremony will include representatives from the organizing committee and the Mayor of Thônex.
  • A small food and drink stand will be held by the Grav’Side association.

Preparations:

Training sessions will be held on Wednesday, April 30 and Wednesday, May 7 at 4:00 pm. Those registering for the race will be asked to indicate whether or not they are taking part in the training sessions. This ‘Cross des Familles’ aims to encourage the active participation of all members of the community, to promote a healthy and active lifestyle while strengthening the bonds between the inhabitants of Thônex Nord.

Participant amenities:

Considering the short race distances, no water/food stations will be available along the route. Water and a snack are to be foreseen for participants upon arrival. In addition, public water fountains are available on the Belle-Terre grounds. Paying parking is available in the area, several busses provide regular service to the area and participants are encouraged to arrive by public transport or bike.

Volunteers:

A number of volunteers will be required to assist with various race aspects like marshalling, directing participants, or managing information/aid/food-refreshment stations.
 

Safety measures and route markings:

Suitable safety measures and route markings will be put in place in collaboration with the local police.
